Dr. Jisu Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She holds a PhD in Data Science from Scuola Normale Superiore in Italy. Prior to her current position, she was a research scientist at Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. She develops novel insights and approaches to understand migrants’ trajectories, encompassing both their journeys and their engagement in digital spaces, while also examining the social, cultural, and political contexts that shape migration. By integrating computational methods with sociopolitical theory, she advances both the conceptual and empirical understanding of migration, moving beyond traditional survey-based approaches to capture real-time, large-scale patterns.
