Jacob SCHEWE

Dr. Jacob Schewe is a leading researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), where he leads the working group “Impacts of Climate Change on Human Population Dynamics” and is FutureLab Leader in the “Security & Migration” science unit. His work uses global and sectoral climate models (notably the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project, ISIMIP) to quantify how climate changes, including extremes, hydrological shifts, temperature, affect human migration, mobility, and vulnerability. He explores the physical, ecological, and social pathways linking climate stressors with displacement, food insecurity, conflict risk, and mediated effects on livelihoods. Dr. Schewe publishes extensively in high-impact journals and contributes to major reports on climate-induced migration, flood displacement, water scarcity, and ecosystem health, combining modelling, empirical analyses, and scenario work to produce policy-relevant insights into how societies might adapt to or mitigate climatological threats.
