Andrea Ortiz is the ad interim Head of the Migration and Development Unit at IOM Tunisia. Previous to coming to Tunisia, she was the Regional Coordination Officer for Regular Pathways for MENA.
Andrea has over ten years of experience working on migration and development in the US, Mexico, UK, Switzerland, Argentina, Costa Rica and Egypt. Prior to her six years at IOM, she worked as a policy consultant in Mexico on affordable housing, green and smart cities, and climate finance. Her Fulbright-sponsored research on binational education and reintegration in rural and indigenous communities in Mexico was published in Teachers College Record.
She holds a Master’s in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s in Social Studies and Economics from Harvard University. Andrea speaks English, Spanish and French.
