Emmanuel Quarshie is an economist and migration researcher with extensive experience in micro, meso and macro level data analysis, research, methodology design and conceptualization of migration research, policy and practice across Africa and the MENA region.
Currently, he serves as the Data and Research Officer at IOM Tunisia. He also worked as the Regional Reporting Officer with IOM Regional Data Hub in Egypt, Project Coordinator for the Migration Governance and Regular Pathways Unit in IOM Zimbabwe and the Regional Data Analyst for the IOM Regional Office for Southern Africa based in South Africa.
Emmanuel is a Visiting Scholar at the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Bridging Divide Programme for Migration Studies and the Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana. His work focuses on migration data, migration governance, and labour migration, Gig economy, Digital nomadism, platform work, contributing to policy frameworks in SADC, EAC and MENA. He is a recognized member of the European Training Foundation (ETF) Skills Lab Network of Experts and a visiting scholar at the University of Western Cape.
Emmanuel holds a PhD in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where his research was recognized with the Best PhD Award.
